Indian BCCI Approached ICC Against Kashmir Premier League

Finally, The Indian (BCCI) has approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) against Kashmir Premier League. Moreover, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) urged ICC to not recognize Kashmir Premier League (KPL). The basis of the BCCI complaint revolves around the disputed territory of Jammu & Kashmir. And, whether the ICC allows and plays matches within disputed territory.

Surprisingly, according to some reports, BCCI has also threatened to not play against Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup if the inaugural edition of KPL is played. That’s a bit of a shock.

Earlier, BCCI had warned foreign players not to take part in KPL. And, they threatened them with not allowing any cricket-related activities if they take part in KPL. Due to this, a total of six cricketers till now make excuses to not join the league.

However, Former South African opener, Herschelle Gibbs, was among the threatened ones. But, he took Twitter by storm and exposed BCCI’s dirty politics in this beautiful game. This time, PCB didn’t stay quiet and approached ICC to stop BCCI to interfere with PCB’s internal affairs.

PCB released a statement in regard to the matter, which read:

“The PCB believes the BCCI has once again breached international norms and the spirit of the gentleman’s game by interfering in internal affairs of the ICC Members, as the KPL has been approved by the PCB. The PCB considers that the BCCI has brought the game into disrepute by issuing warnings to multiple ICC Members to stop their retired cricketers from featuring in the Kashmir Premier League, further threatening they will not be allowed entry into India for cricket-related work.”

At The End

Due to this recent activity, the relationship between the two boards disrupted even more. Moreover, these two arch-rivals have not faced each other in a series in almost 9 years. Although, they faced each other regularly in major ICC events. In our opinion, BCCI’s actions are not according to sports rules, and they are trying to drag politics into it. We must eliminate any kind of politics in sports and should make it a source of entertainment.
