Note: It is Neither a hack nor an illegal trick. I found this trick as a feature and this feature is provided by each and every hosting Provider :). Here I will give the example of GoDaddy because I am using it. You can use any hosting, this trick will work with every hosting.

Host Multiple Websites on Single web Hosting account:

Use this trick with Godaddy starter plan (first year Rs. 720/one site hosting + free domain). You can use any other hosting provider but GoDaddy is highly recommended.

  1. Buy the Godaddy single Web hosting plan.
  2. Now you have one Primary Domain let’s say abc.com, which you got from the plan (Free domain).
  3. Now buy other domains (as many as you want). You can use GoDaddy here again :).
let’s assume you bought one domain i.e xyz.com (you can register as many as you want).
  4. Now go to your GoDaddy hosting cPanel.
  5. Create a Subdomain for your newly registered domain (xyz.com), here I created as xyz.abc.com.
  6. Set up your xyz.com website at xyz.abc.com, Do all necessary work i.e install WordPress or whatever you want for your newly registered domain.
  7. Now Open your domain panel from where you bought your domain, say GoDaddy itself. There will be 2 options (sometimes 3) custom DNS and domain forwarding/Masking.
  8. There are 2 or more options in forwarding:
    1: Forward only/Forward without Masking.
    2: Forward with Masking.
  9. Select domain forwarding with Masking.
  10. Enter the subdomain on which you made your second website ( xyz.abc.com).
  11. Save it and you are done :).

What exactly I did?

Basically, I have pointed xyz.com to xyz.abc.com. Domain name forwarding lets you automatically direct your domain name’s visitors to a different website. But Masking prevents visitors from seeing your domain name forwarding by keeping your domain name in the Web browser’s address bar. Domain Forwarding Example: If you Forward only xyz.com to abc.com then whenever a visitor opens xyz.com he will redirect to abc.com and the content or website on abc.com will show. The Address bar will also be displaying abc.com.

Domain Forwarding with Masking Example: If you Forward xyz.com to abc.com with Masking then whenever a visitor opens xyz.com he will see the content or website data of abc.com but the Address bar will display xyz.com :).

So, by using this method you can host as many as you want websites on a single web Hosting. One more thing for SEO point of view, Never index both domain (sub-domain and actual domain), it may cause duplication. Index only one of your choice.

NOTE: The bandwidth/storage/CPU and other resources will be shared among your main site and subdomains.
