Today i will tell you What are Meta Tags and how much they are importance SEO to get your Article rank on Search Engines like google, Yahoo, Bing and many others.

What are Meta Tags Definition by W3School and google SEO Forum:

The Meta tag provides metadata about the HTML document. Metadata will not be displayed on the page, but will be machine Readable. Meta elements are typically used to specify page description, keywords, author of the document, last modified, and other metadata. This is the simplest Definition of Meta Tags by Popular SEO Organizations. In simplest words Meta Tags are the are some special tags which tells a search engine about the content of page. like What is the page about? how google read page and on which Keyword you want google to focus for rank in SERP ( Search Engine Ranking Position). There are many meta tags but we focus on most important and basic Tag which every webmaster must has to use in their post. These are Title tag, Description tag, author tag, Keyword tags (Keyword Meta tag is not now important. Google no more use it in ranking and other factors).

Now we have a decent knowledge about Meta tags. Now we will learn Importance of Meta Tags in SEO 2014. Is these are Seo ranking factors? Answer is absolutely yes :) . Meta Tags are considered as SEO ranking factors since the start of SEO. Many of new Blogger or newbies neglect these. Duo to this they did not get rank anyhow their pages are indexed by google or other search Engine. It is a common myth. Lets go with a example. Let’s suppose you have to sell a Product. Let me know is it possible that you can sold that product product without knowing what was that product and what is its uses? Answer is simply NO, Never, Not at all. Here we are :) . In this part of Post i will tell you how to use these tags properly into your post for best SEO results.

Meta Tittle Tag :

Meta Title tag is normally put in head tag of HTML. It tel the Search Engine about your post. For best Practice keep Title length maximum 70 Characters long. It will look like this “<title> Tittle goes here </title>”. See the image Bellow for understanding this phenomena.

Meta Description Tag :

It is the Second most important Meta tag after Title tag. It should not be long to 150 characters. (remember these length restriction are no specified or describe by me or any other webmaster. Google and other big search engines only read these meta tags contents to these lengths). It give more details to search Engine about contents. It look like this in HTML “<meta name=”description” content=”Awesome Description Here”>”.

Meta Keyword Tag :

Meta Keyword tag is not now considered as a ranking factor by search engines so we no need to stuck out mind in it :) . Just forget it.

Author Meta tag :

This will give the details about the Author of blog, website or Article Writer. Google now considering it as a SEO ranking factor. It also called Website authorship. This will be done by such code “<link rel=”publisher” href=”your G+ id “/>”.

These are the main and most important Meta tags that you all must need to include in your post in order to get rank. There are many other tag but these are most important.

Right! you no need to take worry. Also no need to to add it manually by putting their codes into HTML. As all we know now 95% of webmaster use WordPress as a CMS so there are thousand of free plugin to done this job. I will mention 3 most commonly used free Plugin for this purpose.
