Many newbies ask me how they can set up Webmaster tool and how to add and verify a site into it.In that case i ma here to tell you ” how to add and verify site in Google webmaster tool “. :) As all we know Google Webmaster tool is the product of google which help the webmaster to check and analyses their site performance as well as detect and remove errors.

when you set up account and add and verify you site you need to submit sitemap into it in order to get you site index by google and finally rank by google.

how to add and verify site in Google webmaster tool Step by Step Guide

1: Go to google and search for google webmaster tool.Now on first page as you see it ask you to sign in or get yourself registered or signup.

2: Click on signup button and complete the form information.Remember you need gmail account in order to get yourself registered on GWT.As it is a google product.

3: After successful registration you will ask to submit or add site in order to track and check its performance as it showed in picture bellow :) .

4: Click on Add a Site Button.It will ask you the address of you site put the address of you site in URL box and hit submit button.

5: after add this it will ask you to verify your site in order to check is it yours or not.In that purpose there are many ways to verify your site like
1: Add HTML Tag into you site.
2: upload a HTML Verification code page into you site directory.
3: Link to Google Analytics.
4: Add some Meta Tags into head of your site.
All are good but i prefer to use 2nd (Upload HTML File). This is because there may be case that you lost your site accidentally all data removed from it.Or hacked by any hacker.Then you need to set up it from start.So using Uploading file method is easy and best.

6: Now download the HTML file into you pc and upload it into your site directory.you can upload it via FTP account.After upload the file do the step 3 as show in figure above to check weather your file is upload the correct directory/Folder or not.

7: you are almost done :) now click on verify button.It will show the message in next page that your site has been added successfully.
