What is Culture?

According to Taylor Definition culture is “that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society”.

Types of Culture.

There are four major types of Culture listed below with definitions.

  1. Material Culture:
    Material culture is the physical evidence of a culture in the objects and architecture they make, or have made.
  2. Non-Material Culture:
    Non‐material culture refers to the nonphysical ideas that people have about their culture, including beliefs, values, rules, norms, morals, language, organizations, and institutions.
  3. Real Culture:
    Real culture is what an actual culture currently is and the state it is in.
  4. Ideal Culture:
    An ideal culture is how the majority of people would want it to be.We read it in our books, Schools etc.

Culture of the Pakistan comprises numerous ethnic groups like Punjabi’s, Kashmirs, Sindhi’s in east, Muhajirs, Makrani in the south, Baloch and Pashtun in the west, and the ancient Dardic, Wakhi, Baltistani and Burusho communities in the north.

These are some of the main religious festivals celebrated in Pakistan: Shab-e-Barat, Shab-e-Qadar, Shab-e-Miraj, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Milad-un-Nabi, Youm-e-Ashura, Ramadan, Birth Rites, Funeral Rites.
