The Amazing Google Pixel vs. the Brilliant Apple iPhone 7: Which one is worth your money?

Here is a breakdown of all the features, specs and hardware of Google Pixel XL and Apple iPhone 7 and their performances.

Hardware and Software

The new Apple iPhone 7 was launched with the latest iOS 10 software update and it will be pushed on other Apple phones as well. On Google’s side, Pixel XL is among the first handsets at the front line to get the latest Android 7.1 Nougat. The phone will receive updates for three years while not all the Android phones get the latest software update. Both the phones have fast processing speed but Apple iPhone 7 clocks in with A10 Fusion quad core with a better faster speed whereas Pixel XL has Snapdragon 821. Design and Display

Both mobile devices are considered to be affordable in terms of mobile prices in Pakistan. The larger devices by Google and Apple have a similar screen size of 5.5 inch but iPhone 7 falls behind in screen resolution. The larger handset of the Google smartphone series features a full HD display and a screen resolution of 1080 while iPhone 7 Plus is only 1440. Same goes for their RAMS. Both the smartphones are designed to multitask but Pixel XL boasts a RAM of 4GB while Apple iPhone has only 3GB.

Battery and Fast Charging

Pixel XL battery trumps the smaller battery of iPhone 7 Plus in size and lasts longer than Apple’s device. Google has declared that Pixel XL’s battery lasts up to 32 hours with a capacity of 3450mAh as compared to specs& price of iPhone 7 Plus which lasts as long as 21 hours with a capacity of 2900Mah.

Virtual Assistant

iPhone 7 does not feature Virtual Reality  (VR) whereas Pixel XL is fairly compatible with Daydream View with the latest Android software update. Thanks to the Nougat, users are able to enjoy built-in Google Assistant which is as capable as iPhone’s Siri, Both the virtual assistants are intelligent and capable of performing similar tasks. However, Apple’s Siri may have proven to be slightly better than Google’s virtual assistant but, gets pretty much the same reviews on performance.

Fingerprint Sensor

The fingerprint sensor is becoming quite a common feature in all the mid-range and premium phones this year. Apple iPhone 7 places the fingerprint scanner at the front, right below the Home vibrator sensor whereas Google mobile phones has it’s sensor at the back which is not the ideal place for such a feature.

Camera

There has been a lot of competition on camera this year among almost all the smartphone releases. Manufacturers are going for larger aperture but low f-stop to let in more light. Google fails to maintain its lead when it comes to Apple iPhone 7 Plus which features the first ever dual cameras. Apple promoted its phone using this feature as the major selling point of the device along with optical zoom and high dynamic range. Optical Image Stabilization is engineered in iPhone 7 only which counteracts to the shakiness of your hand to produce better images. Google, on the other hand still has an impressive rear camera but Apple goes all the way to the top. You May also like to read How to delete Album from iPhone and iPad?

Storage

Google’s killer offering beats Apple iPhone 7 fairly. Pixel XL gives unlimited storage options for pictures and videos on is cloud based storage while Apple iPhone offers a tight storage capacity. As far as internal storage is concerned, Pixel XL offer 32GB and 128GB only whereas iPhone 7 has excluded the 16GB storage option and now offer 32GB, 128GB and 256GB with no expandable storage options.

Water Resistance

Google Pixel XL is nothing like the smartphones available in the market these days. It fails to match the current smartphone standards for water resistance rating. It is only rated as IP53 which means limited dust protection. Apple iPhone price in Pakistan is very competitive with a higher water and dust resistance rating of 1P67.  It means that iPhone is resistance and can resist being in water which is 15 centimeter to 1 meter deep. This area is not so good for Pixel XL given to its high price as compared to other smartphones in the market at the same price.

There are plenty of appealing features in Pixel XL such as amazing camera, unlimited storage for images and videos and the screen resolution knocks iPhone 7 off its game. Regardless of all these features, Google has failed to understand the meaning of a premium smartphone and missed a couple of features that are usually present in a hi-end smartphone. People are more loyal to Apple and still prefer iOS over Android and its unbelievable water resistance rate puts Pixel XL in no position to compete against Apple iPhone 7.
